When we checked into our hotel before the
game we learned, much to my excitement, that Cal Ripken was going to
be inducted into the Orioles Hall of Fame that night. And when
we got there the place was nuts with Cal Ripken jerseys!
Other than being a great all-around ball
player, Ripken might be most well-know for breaking Lou Gehrig's
record of most consecutive games played. Cal appeared in
every game for 17 seasons! Those 2,632 games were nearly 500
more than Gehrig; a record quite possibly never to be broken. |
