The night we went was against the nearby
rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres were only in first
place by only a game or two. San
Diego had a one run lead, but it had been a slow game. All of a
sudden, right after the last out in the bottom of the eighth, the
atmosphere at the ballpark got really weird...religious. Mel and
I both got that feeling at the same time and looked at each other.
Over the sound system, bells started slowly tolling. The
numerous screens around the field went black and then started up with
flames. What in the hell was going on? Then, as a focused
Trevor Hoffman, famed Padres closer, walked out of the bullpen, the
place erupted. TREVOR TIME! They are serious about this
guy here, and with good reason, he's tops in the game! |
