When planning a visit to the Tampa Bay
area we were excited to find out the Rays were at home so we could
catch a game at Tropicana Field.
Actually located in downtown St.
Petersburg it is on the west side of Tampa Bay (across the water
from Tampa).
The field is under a
(non-retractable)
dome and was built in 1990, originally called the Florida
Suncoast Dome. Constructed as a baseball stadium, Tropicana
Field has been the home to the Rays since 1998. (At that point
they were actually the Devil Rays...actually until last year.)
You can check out more about the
field on the
Tampa Bay Rays site. |
