Round Top Mountain, Buffalo River (October, 2009)

As we started in on the trail you very quickly saw the devastation to the forest of the recent ice storms.  There were large branches and whole trees down everywhere and you could lots of places where clearing (with chainsaws) had to be done to open the trail up.

What was funny was the east side of the mountain seemed to be the worse and as you neared the top it wasn't as bad.

The foliage here indicates we were just about a week past the peak of the season which for 2009 wasn't all that spectacular from what I read.
