Don pick out the spot to setup the
rappel and it was a pretty good one. The reason it was good is
the reason the Sam's Throne area sandstone is so good for
climbing--plenty of anchors. If there isn't a good solid tree
nearby there is always a naturally sculpted piece of rock to wrap
your webbing around. This one
actually had a great bolt (probably 12" into the rock) and a
formation for some webbing to create a nice double protected,
self-compensating rappel. |
