The upper loop breaks through the bluff line and heads to the top of the ridge.  I love this trail in the winter.  It is an upland forest area so there isn't much ground cover and during leaf-off you can see quite a distance through the forest.  The trail is an old logging road, so it is plenty wide open also.  It is just an enjoyable experience.  I highly recommend it!
