So we headed out of Phoenix in the morning
between 8 and 9 and took I-17 North. It climbs leaving the
valley and goes through some pretty scenery. Just as you are
approaching Camp Verde, AZ you get some great views of the San
Francisco Peaks (12,000+ feet elevation) sticking up behind the Red
Rock Country of Sedona. The peaks are where we'll be skiing on
Wednesday but today it was all about the Red Rocks.
The drive from Phoenix to Sedona is 2
hours...not bad at all!
Consequently, once you head down into
Camp Verde and toward Sedona you loose the views of the peaks and
don't get them back. This is your one shot! |
