About 45 minutes southeast of Tucson is an
area where higher elevations and lots of sunshine allow for a great
climate for growing grapes. The
area doesn't really have much of an identity or central town so it
just becomes Arizona Wine Country by default. The vineyards and
wineries in the region are new, so with time maybe the identity will
work itself out.
Despite all that, there are still some
good wines and the country is beautiful. Some of the peaks in the
area rose 1,000 feet or more over their surroundings. |
