Our first hike in Red Rock Country was a
trail Mel picked out of a huge list. We were looking for
something without a big elevation change so we didn't kill ourselves
first thing. This one was only about 100 feet net change and 3
miles long so it wouldn't be too bad.
It started in an open desert setting and
then entered a "canyon." What they call a canyon in Arizona we
call a valley or hollow. (I didn't want you picturing something
like the Grand Canyon or a slot canyon.)
The canyon walls were still very
picturesque and they would have been even more so if the dry stream
bed had had water in it. |
