Saguaro National Park - Tucson Mountain District, AZ (September, 2007)

The signal part was actually the rock art left by Native Americans that travelled through the area and left signals to others.  I was expecting to see one or two faded petroglyphs etched into the rock but was I ever surprised.  There were hundreds of them and all very well preserved for the 600 (or even 1500) years they've been there.  And despite visitors having easy access to them, the petroglyphs seem to be rather undisturbed.  I think that could possibly be from a sign well-placed by the NPS.
