Newfound Gap Road, Great Smoky Mountains National Park (October 2008)

We were there at about the peak for fall foliage, which this year was around the 4th week of October.

This made the Newfound Gap Road an even better treat for the eyes as most of the big views were just awash in all sorts of colors.  The reds, yellows and oranges of fall combined with the ever"greens" and the "Blue" Ridge Mountains for some great scenery! To fully experience this road in all its glory, a fall drive is a must!

We made the trek on the road both days we were visiting the park as we were staying in a cabin, near Bryson City, NC.  We'd start and end each day well over on the south side of the park. If I did it again, I might stay in a different place--probably closer to the Sugarlands Visitor Center area.
