On one of our 5 days in Chicago we had
planned to get out of the city for a bit and checkout something we
don't normally see much of--beach and big sand dunes.
The Indiana Dunes is an area just east
of the lower tip of Lake Michigan. It is comprised of both a
National Lakeshore and a state park.
There's a nice beach and all that
comes with that and there are some large dunes to hike up and around
in. We decided to do a bit of both but not fully swim in the
lake. Afterward we sat on a picnic table under a big
cottonwood eating a snack and watching the goings on. (If
you'd like to learn more, checkout another slideshow of my first
trip to the Indiana Dunes,
