Zhengzhou, Henan Province (May, 2007)

The core part of the city was very pretty.  It kind of reminded me of a more offbeat neighborhood or commercial area in New York City.  The tree-lined streets were filled with shops of all kinds selling everything from clothing to electronics.  Click here for different shot of the trees showing how they've been "pruned" over the years to form a "Y" shape.

The metro area has a population of 7 million people and is growing rapidly.  The province is not nearly the largest but is the biggest in population at 100 million people.

Something that was also interesting is the climate was very similar to back home--in May it was hot and humid!
