Anne's Beach, Lower Matecumbe Key, Florida Keys (December, 2006)

We discovered Anne's Beach when looking for a place to eat our picnic lunch.  We couldn't have found a better spot!

Right off of the north parking lot there are several of these individual pavilions each with a nice picnic table.  We sat there enjoying a nice shaded spot for lunch, tucked in the trees, just feet from the water.

I was also surprised how few people there were in the area.  Another plus for enjoying the perfect weather in the Keys.

The beach itself is rather narrow and as in all the Keys there isn't much wave action.  The water isn't very deep and the water is filled with beds of sea grass.  The whole setting is perfect for tromping along in knee-deep water.
