On just our second day in the Keys we were
anxious to check out some of the snorkeling and diving
opportunities. We'd heard that Pennekamp State Park had some
of the best so we decided to head this way. Trouble is, there's little info on the web (FL State Park's website are not the greatest). What was mentioned about snorkeling off of the park's beaches failed to indicate that was about as exciting as snorkeling in a bathtub. Finally after we figured all this out it was too late to get on the snorkeling boat tours that take you out to the good reefs. (See the overview slideshow for details.) With snorkeling out of the picture we decided to plop down on this beach and just enjoy the sun and the sand. |
