San Antonio Riverwalk Area (December, 2001)

We took a trolley (a great way to get in and out of the Riverwalk area...especially for 50 cents) and as soon as we hopped off we noticed quite a few people on the street level.  As we headed down the stairs we realized what we were getting into--tons of people moving inch by inch, lots of drunk college kids screaming football chants, and 2 hour waits at all restaurants.  We took the next stairway up and got out of there.   What was going on was the Alamo Bowl--Texas Tech vs. Iowa, so we figured the crowds were just bored students from Lubbock letting loose.  We later found out that 30,000 of the 65,000 tickets were sold in Iowa.  Lesson learned:  No San Antonio during the holidays!
