We left on a Sunday morning fairly early
and headed down 65 through Harrison. It is 4 lanes all the way
to Harrison but south of there the highway sucks until you hit I-40
in Conway. As we crossed the Buffalo River just north of
Marshall, we decided to hit the Tyler Bend Visitors Center and go
down to the river and stretch our legs a bit.
It had been 13+ years since Mel and I
had first been here when we were checking out the Buffalo River area
for a tourism research paper of mine in college. I took my NPS
Passport book and finally picked up the Buffalo River cancellation
stamp! Finally.
The area is really pretty with a
placid pool and gravel bar that rounds a bend to some rapids and big
bluff. |
