The Drive Back, North Carolina Vacation (June, 2012)

The drive back was more about getting home, but along the way we did find a few places to stop and have some fun.

We left early (about 6am) to start our two day, 1,118 mile trip home.  We drove for about 2 hours and then decided to stop at one of those "unique highway spots" that exist a few places in the US.

Sort of like the Wall Drug of the South, this spot is just across the North Carolina / South Carolina border and it is appropriately named South of the Border.  It, of course, has a Mexican theme and has just about everything one would need--a hotel, campground, five restaurants, at least ten different stores, a reptile park, a theme park, an observation tower, and even a conference center!  Enough said!  A must stop!
