Central Park, New York City (July, 2003)

One of the first large-scale, master-planned urban parks, this massive 850 acre green space serves as the recreational heart of New York City.

The park is abutted by many-storied buildings on every side, yet it remains a very relaxing park setting.

You can see in this picture something that is all over the park, but not something you'd expect to see in Manhattan--rock outcroppings.  Sometimes very large in size the patches "slickrock" provide an interesting feature to the typical trees-and-lawn park setting.
