New York Botanical Gardens, Bronx (September, 2006)

Located in the heart of the Bronx, the New York Botanical Gardens is a great way to enjoy a leisurely afternoon.

The gardens are adjacent to the Bronx Zoo and are easily accessible from mass transit.  Either the Metro North Railway or the subway will get you there.  The route we took, the "D" subway to Bedford Park, was a little 8 block walk down to the west entrance.  For more information on the gardens click here.

Pictured here is the Haupt Conservatory.  While there were several buildings and conservatories scattered throughout the botanical gardens the grounds were the nicest feature, at least for us.
