Collective Overview, Chicago (2004-2008)

South of the river is "The Loop" where this scene is typical.  The Chicago Transit Authority runs a subway system that's oldest segments are here and are built one level above the street giving it the famous name "The L", short for elevated.

CTA is a great way to get around as the trains move around in a loop south of the river and branch off in spokes across the city.  For me the upside is the CTA runs right into O'Hare.  The downside is there's only one line that covers the area immediately north of the river and the well-known area around Michigan Avenue.

Downtown, pictured here, is the central business district but still has plenty of shopping and restaurants scattered about.  It feels like a big, busy city.
