San Antonio Mission National Historical Park, TX (November, 2007)

The first one downriver from the Alamo (located in downtown) is Mission Concepcion or Mission Nuestra Señora de la Purisima Concepción de Acuña.  (Whew!  Good thing Spanish is a fast language.)

The sanctuary was impressive, though slightly smaller than San Jose, and there were plenty of interesting hallways to wander down and side rooms with original frescos to peek your head into.

Concepcion is unique because it is oldest unrestored stone church in the US (built in 1755).  And, something I learned at this one is that all the stone was usually quarried onsite.
