The River Walk, San Antonio, TX (November, 2007)

Since architect Robert Hugman designed the original "U" shaped canal that led away from the channelized portion of the San Antonio River several other "tributaries" have been added to incorporate other attractions into the River Walk.

The first expansion was an arm to the Alamo and a Hyatt hotel.  A latter "T" shaped canal was added to connect the new convention center, RiverCenter Mall (pictured) and a Marriott.

Though you can't see the bottom, all the canals themselves are only several feet deep and have a muddy bottom.  Once a year they are drained, I suspect for repairs.  This event triggers the "Mud Festival" which, as you can imagine, is quite a mess!
