At the base of Point Loma (on the bay
side) is a small island, Shelter Island. After our flight out
being cancelled by weather in DFW, American Airlines put us up in a
Sheraton on the island. We didn't have much time there, but it seemed most of the island was hotel. However there was a nice "boardwalk" along the bay and this beautiful view back across to Coronado and downtown San Diego. The two large semi-circles are Navel hangers on Coronado Island.
