Some of the big name museums in the park
include the world-famous San Diego Zoo, the Fleet Science Center,
the Natural History Museum (pictured), and the Museum of Art.
But it isn't just buildings, there are plenty of open spaces and
public gather places (usually centered around fountains or pools)
and the two times I've been there the place was very well maintained
and easy to navigate by vehicle and by foot.
The one disadvantage of the location is
that isn't on the coast, which is such an integral part of San
Diego. That causes the Birch Aquarium (part of the Scripps
Institution of Oceanography) to be separate from this collection of
museums and attractions. But, the setting is nonetheless
impressive perched on a highpoint inland from downtown. |
