Wild Animal Park, San Diego, CA (June, 2005)

The park is laid out with a large, open area in the center with specialized habitats surrounding it.  Most of those enclosures are visible two ways--from the tour and from the walking paths.  Both ways offer interesting perspectives of their own.

This, obviously, is one of the elephant enclosures.  Most are very large and give the animals plenty of room to move around and experience more of the behaviors they would in the wild, which, in turn, provides a better visitor experience than a traditional zoo.
