Queens Garden Trail can use either parts
of the Navajo Loop Trail to get back to the rim and covers a
distance of 3.0 miles. The elevation change from the rim to
the lowest point is almost 600 feet and in the heat of the day this
can really be a tough one coming back out.
The NPS
webpage for this hike is helpful to guide you through and you'll
need to consult the Navajo Loop Trail
page to get you back out if you don't intend to backtrack.
Switchbacks like the one pictured here are
common on most trails but a slow and steady pace (with a well timed
water "break") will get you up the toughest of them. |
