Arvest Ballpark, Northwest Arkansas (August 1, 2009)

As you drive out to the park you quickly realize this thing was built in the middle of nowhere.  There are literally cows surrounding the park that you can see through the right field park fence.

Yes, it's easy to build a stadium in the middle of a farm field.  You have ample room for parking (as seen here) and it is cheap ($3).  But there in lies the major flaw of Arvest Ballpark.  In today's world weaving stadiums and other large public projects into the urban fabric of a community is a BIG trend.  Sure, downtown Fayetteville has a huge University of Arkansas presence but whatever happened in the area that stopped the ballpark from being built there or in any other unique setting is a mistake by the NW Arkansas collective leadership.
