New Busch (right of photo) was constructed
literally on top of Old Busch. The new stadium construction
started before the 2004 season and built right up to the edge of Old
Busch. Then after the 2005 postseason games ended, the
wrecking ball came out and the old stadium came down as the new one
continued to build out. Here's a really cool
time-lapse. In it's heyday
the old stadium was shared by the baseball Cardinals and the
football Cardinals (before they moved to Phoenix) so it Astroturf
and was hot with uncomfortable seats. In college a buddy
and I went to weekend series and got cheap seats WAY up in the
stadium. It was hard to see the action! I have some
great memories there but was glad to see it go. |
