Dad tried (in vain) to stop us from
wearing dirt spots into the yard for the batters boxes and the
pitcher's mound. (We even attached a board to the ground for the
rubber.) The backstop used to be
the sign for our subdivision. It said Capital Hills. The
bank that owned the sign never cut around it leaving that to us and
they tried to subtly develop apartments. That pissed Dad off and
down the sign came. We then refinished it and "Moondog Field"
fit "Capital Hills" just right. The sign became a landmark to
all who lived in the subdivision behind us and saw it from the road
