Built for the Olympics in 1996 the field
still looks great and has lots of corporate presence from so many of
the companies headquartered in Atlanta (Delta, Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A,
Napa Auto Parts, and the list goes on). Check out a
panoramic from this
vantage point. Seating capacity
is around 50,000 and the stadium cost $209M when it was built.
It replaces the old Fulton County Stadium, a municipal "donut" style
stadium known as "The Launching Pad" which was immediately north of
the current facility.
Of note, or at least cool to me, is
the stadium's address--755 Hank Aaron Drive. A nice tribute to
his record! For more info on the stadium check out the Braves'
site. |
