Buffalo River Trail, portion of Boxley to Ponca (October, 2003)

This puddle is about all that's left of Arrington Creek near the trail crossing.  Late summer through mid-winter isn't the ideal time to experience the "water features" of the Buffalo River area.  However, the fall colors and the leaf-off season allow a completely different Buffalo experience.  Sometimes it's almost like visiting the aftermath of a disaster.  We've made difficult river crossings in the raging spring waters only to walk around the same spots after they've gone bone dry with nothing but bits of evidence that it could  have been that tough.  Anyway, a different perspective.

We'll definitely be back in spring to see Arrington Creek.
