Old River Trail, Compton to Ponca (September, 2002)

After a somewhat decent night of sleep we got up around 8am and the fog was still lifting out of the river valley.

We filtered water, fixed oatmeal for breakfast, broke camp and headed west.  Our final destination, the Ponca Trailhead was about 6½ miles away on the Old River Trail.

With a group of 6, we took two vehicles.  We dropped 4 people off at the Compton Trailhead and took the vehicles to the Ponca Trailhead.  Left one vehicle and then headed back to start at Compton.  Upon reaching our destination we took 2 to retrieve the other vehicle at Compton and returned to Ponca to pickup the other 4.  All in all it was about 30 extra minutes each time.
