Current River, Akers to Round Spring (July, 2007)

I was really impressed with the amount of wildlife we saw.  Deer, herons, ducks, turtles, frogs groundhogs--those are all common sights in the Ozarks.  What we didn't expect so see, much less close up, was this beaver.  Shortly after we left Pulltite Spring this guy just cruised right across the river in front of us like it was no big deal.  In fact, for a couple seconds it seemed like he was leading us downstream.  Then, in a flash, he ducked his head and was gone.
