Our next stop was something I've been
wanting to see after reading about it in a conservation magazine
years and years ago. This is the entrance to Jam Up Cave.
You have to be watching for it on the river right. Be looking
for the mouth of the cave halfway up the bluff and the huge
breakdown blocks that have fallen down into the river over the
millennia. You'll have to
scramble up the blocks and onto a little hill of them (from where I
took this photo).
About 100 yards in, the cave
terminates in a pool that is reachable with just the daylight.
A flashlight is always a good idea though to avoid stumbling on the
rocks.
