This is Cathedral Rock, the most "famous"
red rock in Sedona. Located between Sedona and the Village of
Oak Creek, the butte is perfectly situated to be seen from most of the
area including several really scenic spots. (I'll get to those
later.) A Forest Service trail will take you to a saddle between several of the sheer rock spires. Great views abound the entire way. Most of the trail is exposed so avoiding the heat of the day is recommended. We did the hike once in the late afternoon and early evening. That was a great time to be out there. |
