Our resort was actually in the Village of Oak Creek which was about 15 mins. from the heart of Sedona.  Traffic is pretty thick through this area and although it would take 20 mins. or more to get almost anywhere we went, it wasn't a bother because it was so easy to sit back and enjoy the scenery.

One thing to note though, Sedona is pricey but nothing too bad, and it is also a bit hippie--lots of New Age stuff floating around the area.
