West Fork of Oak Creek - Sedona, AZ (September, 2002)

The whole hike is situated in a riparian zone of the creek and is in a great alpine forest.  Plenty of oak and fir trees abound, but the forest is dominated by the large Ponderosa Pines that grow in the area.  Click here to see Mel standing next to a rather interesting one.

As you can see in the picture, the trail is relatively well-worn and flat.  This is pretty much true for most of the trail.  There isn't much elevation change or tough trail, which makes the hike easy and, consequently, popular.
