Boynton Canyon Trail is one of the classic
Sedona hikes. There are hikes along the desert floor and some
that climb to great views. Boynton, however, is a little bit
different. It runs into what is known as a box canyon--a
canyon with no "headwater" exit. You hike in and then out the
same direction, unless of course you do some technical climbing.
With Boynton Canyon Trail being
well-known for being one of the better box canyons and being fully
accessible via paved roads it also makes it one of the more popular
trails. Pictured here is the rather large (for a Sedona
trailhead) parking lot. The Forest Service is attempting to
limit overcrowding by not allowing overflow parking. Good
move! For the FS
