Vultee Arch Trail, Sedona, AZ (September, 2007)

When I spotted an unofficial trail I couldn't resist the opportunity to explore the hillside and get up near the arch.  I worked my way up the rugged slope watching out for those pesky prickly pear cactus and listening closely for rattlesnakes.  =)

It is amazingly flat on top and while it looked solid I decided to use better judgment and not venture out on it.  Ultimately it wouldn't have been that tough to walk across it, but getting down onto it from my vantage point was the kicker, although it doesn't appear that way from the photo.

From this spot on the hillside you are afforded a great view of the slick rock that is the official end of the trail.
