Topolos at Russian River Vineyards, Sonoma (June, 2004)

In addition to his expertise the highlight of the tour was the unofficial tasting.  The wines in the tanks (pictured) were still a month or so from being bottled but Michael pouring us tastings straight out of the tank nozzles.

It's amazing how much a good wine goes through from the time it is placed into the stainless steal tanks to the the time it is bottled.  The endless tastings of future wines and his explanations of them surpassed any winery experience I've had.

The winery is most well known for its Zinfandel (red, not white).  I've never really taken too them to much until after this trip.  This place made several varieties, most award-winning.  The Stu Pedasso label were even well under $10 in price only!
