North China, Introduction (May, 2007)

For travelers the hotels are quite a welcomed site. The ones we stayed in are very “western-style” and can, at the end of a long day in a strange place, make you feel a little bit better and relax a bit.

They all served western-style breakfasts, which was a nice break to the digestive system, and were full of the typical amenities such as spas, fitness rooms, bars, and business centers. Internet access was always free and one hotel in Dalian even had a heated toilet seat. I thought that wouldn’t be that big of deal but in the middle of the night it feels quite nice!

The hotels were:
Beijing – Sunworld Dynasty
Dalian – Furama
Zhengzhou – Hotel Sofitel
