And, what was even worse, though the guide never admitted it, I figured out that wasn't even the river.  That was a diversion channel created for the pumping station.  The river was still a half mile away and barely visible through the "fog."  After walking back down the hill and climbing to the top of this odd platform structure we could make out what was actually the "mother river" of China.  Click here for the shot.

Here are some extra photos from the Scenic Area.  The top left is a statue depicting a nursing mother with the mother representing the river and the baby representing the Chinese people.  The other item of note is the calligraphy on the stone (top right) that is part of a "collection" of various forms of Chinese calligraphy.
