Zhengzhou, Henan Province (May, 2007)

As part of our sightseeing day we went to several sights that we thought were important to culture of the area.  By the end of the day though, we were feeling more like we'd been run around to all the local tourist traps.  You'll get the picture in the next several slides.

This was the Yellow River Scenic Area.  We hiked up this rather steep hill with the understanding we'd have a great view of the Yellow River which is widely regarded as the "mother river" to China.  Throughout history agriculture has dominated civilizations' success and the river and its fertile soils has been part of Chinese life for millennia.

Well,  this was our view, from atop a structure that pumps water to a supply reservoir.  The river is barely visible in the distance.
