Area Towns - Winter Park, Colorado (Sept. 2001)

Most of the shops and restaurants were in the town of Winter Park (which was, by the way, much nicer looking.  Higher quality buildings, landscaping, set-backs, etc.)

This photo is from the ski resort.  In the summer they open what is called an alpine slide--2 tracks of smooth concrete over 3,000 feet long.  You get a little cart to sit on and control the speed and you rocket down the track.  This is a BLAST!  (The chairlift ride up is pretty cool too.)  It's $8 though.  Check out their website.
