Through what's called the Rock Cut (and
other places along the high part of the road) you can see Longs
Peak. Longs is 14,255 ft. high and is the only 14'er in Rocky
Mountain NP. It's a 15 mile hike with over 4,800 ft. elevation
gain. (Needless to say we didn't do that, but I will
someday...sooner than later.)
On our last trip back across the road a cold front was moving
through, the sun set and the temp. dropped to 31°F. We were
above the clouds and saw snow collecting on the road signs. |
