Trail Ridge Road (Rocky Mtn. NP), Colorado (Sept. 2001)

Running across the middle of Rocky Mountain National Park, the road is 48 miles from Grand Lake to Estes Park and goes from 8,700 feet above sea level to 12,200 feet and back to 7,900 feet.

A portion of the road is well above the timberline and the scenery is great.  For those who don't like to be on the outside of a hairpin curve inches from a 1,000 fall off of the roadway, this road will only stress you out a little bit.  I've seen much worse!    =)
