Pedernales Falls State Park is located
just northeast of Johnson City. (About and hour's drive west of
Austin.) It is administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department so it is very accessible and has plenty of facilities. The "hike" down to the falls (and an observation area) is only about a ¼ of a mile. The cost of admission is the usual $4 per person. (Again, I'm glad Missouri State Parks are free!)
