Pedernales Falls State Park, Texas (December, 2001)

This is the upper section of the falls area.  The falls here more closely resemble what people typically think of as waterfalls.

The whole area stretched for quite a distance.  Most of it was bedrock, boulders (basically loose pieces of bedrock), and intermittent pockets of sand or gravel.

What we observed as really neat about the area was that depending on the amount of water flowing through this portion of the Pedernales River the area can look completely different.  Low water can connect areas, high water change flows and divide the area into sections.
