On a Saturday morning in August we decided
to kick off a "quest" that we'd been wanting to do for a while--go
see a Springfield Cardinals game at all the other Texas League
ballparks. First up was Northwest Arkansas. But instead
of just driving 2 hours to Springdale to watch a game and go home,
we decided to make a day of it.
It rained on the way down but the
rain held off for the rest of the day and the temps were great.
We left at 9am and drove down through Monett and Cassville and
stopped short of Rogers, Arkansas at
Pea Ridge National
Military Park. It is a Civil War battlefield under the
protection of the National Park Service. The battle was fought
after Wilson's Creek (near Springfield) and is very similar in
setup. |
